The Mission.

The Mission of the Ride4Diabetes event is to help prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

The mission is simple. We seek to advance the research, treatment, and cure for diabetes.

The money you raise for Ride4Diabetes funds critical diabetes research, information programs, and advocacy efforts that support the nearly 30 million children and adults in the U.S. with diabetes, and the 86 million with pre-diabetes.  Over time, diabetes can damage the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, and nerves, and the overall risk of dying is at least double the risk of their peers without diabetes.

LCI’s Core 4 Diabetes program enables Lion’s to realize a variety of initiatives to prevent and reduce the impact of diabetes as a public health concern.  Typical items supported include development of self-management courses for diabetics, diabetes and diabetic retinopathy equipment and community awareness and promotion.  Local Lion’s clubs in the bay area provide free diabetes screening at local community events using our AJ Robinson Diabetes screening van.  This allows the the clubs to provide instant results of the tests to the individuals so they can seek appropriate medical help if necessary.

According to the World Health Organization, education, prevention and treatment programs are an important tool to help people with diabetes.
